Tessellate led the exhibit design for the Summit Lake Nature Center. The Summit Lake Nature Center Nature is a multimedia, highly visual exhibit designed and built for a repurposed pumphouse building. The exhibit area comprises approximately 1000 sq ft footprint of the Community Room on the First Floor.
The Nature Center's goal was to create a successful exhibit program that includes inspirational experiences, coupled with engaging interpretive content and keeping that content refreshed. As the Prime Contract holder and exhibit designers, our design intentions were to Inform visitors about Summit Lake's past, present, and future transformation, including the complex ecosystem of Summit Lake, and communicate the complex narratives of the community and social issues faced. We ultimately wanted to create a bright, welcoming gathering space to invite participation and engagement. On a practical level, the exhibits are designed in modular panels and a software system that is easily updatable. Live animals are part of the experience, so our design accommodated animal husbandry needs.
