FUNK BOX Traveling EXHIBIT

A portable,  multi-modal EXHIBIT designed to create music and fun

Key Features

Unique and portable exhibit that shows off the power and beauty of Funk music

A fun and interactive experience for all ages

An accessible and convenient educational tool that brings the museum to the people

The Need

The Funk Center approached Tessellate to create an interactive, multi-modal  road case that could be used for creating music. The intention of this unique mobile exhibit was to craft an authentic experience for children and families, and be an embodiment of their educational goals and values.

The Approach

Tessellate designed an experience using touchless motion sensors, a 100- watt bass amplifier, and a 40-inch LCD video display, all built into the compact footprint of a traditional road case. Each of the four modes of the exhibit, intended to correspond to a historical facet of Funk music,  features three different instruments controlled by motion sensors that use hand swipe gestures to switch between instrument loops. Two retractable and double-sided banners flank the case, and provide information about The Funk Center and its mission to bring music education and fun to children and their families.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Tessellate, and Joseph Karadin has been an instrumental partner in developing this vision with us and navigating alongside our team to bring the Center to life.”
